Compressed Air Tank for M1101

This workstream is part of the bigger “TAC/0 Project“. The objective of provisioning a compressed Air Tank on-board the M1101 trailer is to allow for features such as on-board water-shower, compressed air source for on-board utilities/tools and of course for inflating vehicle tires.

I was intrigued by this mil-spec product just for the looks and also for its dual-chamber capabilities.  It looks compact for its capacity and seems like will fit-like-a-glove on my M1101.

I had purchased this on ebay from here and should receive the shipment in a couple of days.  No further update for now other than, I will have some plans for this unit on my M1101 shortly – a good winter 2017 home work.

*NOTE TANK HAS A STEEL DIVIDER IN THE CENTER.  YOU CAN DRILL A HOLE THROUGH IT TO MAKE IT ALL ONE COMPARTMENT,OR LEAVE IT AS TWO COMPARTMENTS ….SMALLER COMPARTMENT IS ABOUT 13 INCHES OF THE TANK..AND IS ON THE SIDE WITH ONLY 2 PIPE ENDS

MILITARY SURPLUS AIR PRESSURE TANK…MADE BY NAVISTAR DEFENSE…MADE OF STEEL….OPENINGS ARE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A STANDARD THREAD 1/2 INCH PLUMBING FITTING,WITH TEFLON TAPE (see pictures)….. A CURRENT EBAY BUYER STATES..TO CORRECTLY MOUNT TANK TO A DOT INSPECTED TRUCK

The way this tank should be plumbed (boss fittings). All the bosses on this tank require a 22mm straight thread fitting, with O-ring and backing washer to make the correct seal. Notice the bosses all have a chamfer on the outside edge for the O-ring to seat in. Using NPT (tapered) fittings in a straight thread boss will result in a cross threaded connection, which may or may not seal over time

TANK IS ABOUT….. 35 x 9 inches…max pressure says 150 psi on the tank tanks are new current stock…MAY OR MAY NOT BE SHIPPED IN THE ORIGINAL BOX,SOME OF THE BOXES TOWARD THE BOTTOM OF THE CASE ARE ROUGHER
