About

N0AGI’s HAM Radio Shack – Welcome

Welcome, I’m “N0AGI”, a licensed HAM Radio enthusiast, a Maker with electronics, metal and wood fabrication and  an Overlanding Jeeper / Prepper.  This is my blog dedicated to these hobbies and to the related projects I’m currently working on.

The world of HAM Radio is expansive and filled with opportunities for everyone to unwind oneself, go explore, enjoy and then give something back to the community.  Many HAMs undertake and zone in on specific areas of this hobby to be their sweet-spot or field of specialization.  My field of specialization or focused interest is the 2M and 70cm band specific operations such as APRS, ISS APRS, QRP, POCSAG, TNCs, iGates, Digipeaters, Analog/Digital/Hybrid voice repeaters, Packet Radio, VoIP over Radio, Email over Radio, Broadband Mesh Networks, among others.

I am also particularly focused on DMR – where I owned and operated 3 DMR repeater sites, run the MNDMR.net domain/services and actively engage in regional Emergency Preparedness/Communications efforts through the use of DMR technology. Recently, I had sold off my MEDINA and Faribault repeaters systems to new owners. and currently own and operate the Buck Hill, Burnsville, Minnesota repeater site/system.  Please do visit specific pages in this blog to learn more.

I regularly redesign my ham shack and you will find updates to those efforts in this blog. Please look in the Shack-Updates pages.

There’s always something new happening in the world of HAM Radios and there’s always something for everyone to do in this world of hobby. In light of that, there’s tons of new and exciting technological advancements constantly brewing in this field, more than what meets the eye. More recently, there’s a surge of progress being made in the digital realm of this hobby; through the rendition of digital convergence of hardware and software through the field of Software Defined Radio (SDR) services. Additionally, we are also seeing improvements being made to enable these hardware platforms more closer to software by opening them up through APIs via programming languages such as C/C++, C#, Python, PHP, and more.

The purpose of this blog is really to share the progress (or lack there of) of my HAM Radio, Electronics, Metal/Wood fabrication, and Jeep Overlanding / Prepper projects.  You will see each of these projects surfaced as individual tabs on the top of this page.  And, each of these tabs will navigate you to those projects’ pages, collateral, pictures, videos, etc.

Please do visit these project pages and share your feedback and your own experiences; I also hope you will find this blog as interesting to read as it is for me to keep it and that it does some value add to your exploration of this wonderful hobby…

Thanks and 73
