ChipVault ("the App") is developed and operated by N0AGI LLC.

The short version: ChipVault has no servers, no analytics, no tracking, no accounts, and no data collection of any kind. Your secrets live on your physical NFC card and (optionally) in your own iOS Keychain. We never see any of it.

Data We Collect

The App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. ChipVault has no backend server. There is no API to communicate with, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no telemetry of any kind. Nothing you do in ChipVault is ever sent off your device by us.

What ChipVault Stores on Your Device

ChipVault stores a small amount of operational data on your iPhone using Apple's secure storage:

What ChipVault Stores on Your NFC Cards

ChipVault writes your entries (passwords, codes, notes, etc.) directly to your own physical NXP DESFire EV2/EV3 NFC cards using AES-128 encrypted communication. The data is stored on the card hardware itself. The card is the storage medium. We have no way to read it; only your card, in physical proximity to a phone running ChipVault and unlocked with your ChipVault Password, can reveal what is on it.

NFC Usage

ChipVault uses Apple's Core NFC framework with the TAG reader-session format only. NFC communication happens exclusively between your iPhone and an NFC card you tap to it — no remote NFC, no background scanning, no NDEF tag handling, and no internet involved in any NFC operation.

In-App Purchases

ChipVault offers a single one-time non-consumable in-app purchase (ChipVault Full Access). Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. We do not see, receive, or store any payment information. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed into the same Apple ID via the "Restore Purchase" button on the paywall screen.

iCloud Keychain

If you have iCloud Keychain enabled on your iPhone, certain ChipVault Keychain items (the install date and references to personalized cards) will synchronize across your Apple devices via Apple's end-to-end encrypted iCloud Keychain service. This sync is managed entirely by iOS — we have no API access to it. Apple does not have the ability to decrypt iCloud Keychain contents. You can disable this at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Passwords and Keychain.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The App is rated 4+ and contains no age-restricted content. ChipVault is a utility app intended for general audiences.

Third Parties

ChipVault contains no third-party SDKs of any kind. No analytics, no crash reporting services, no advertising networks, no social SDKs. The only third party involved in ChipVault at all is Apple, which provides the iOS Keychain, Core NFC, and StoreKit frameworks the App relies on, and which operates the App Store distribution channel.

Data Deletion
